Every producer we work with is committed to sustainability. Yes, it’s the right thing to do. It serves both the environment and the folks who work and live on the land. But as important as it is for the health of our world, it’s the results that really matter. Do these efforts mean higher quality wines and spirits? Absolutely, yes. Importantly, sustainability and regenerative farming mean these wines will be around for future generations to enjoy.

Hi-Lo only works with producers who are continuously cultivating and expanding these practices.

We believe in supporting producers and selling wines and spirits that express their natural origin and that will be complex and beautiful for years to come. That’s one big reason why Hi-Lo Beverage is compelled to build meaningful and profitable relationships between our producers, our team, and our customers.

We’re so lucky in our partnerships with the people who make the wine and spirits we distribute. They take great care in farming their land and in producing the best wines possible. We’ve found that the most talented winemakers are truly farmers at heart, seeing themselves as guardians of the land. They take great care of everyone and everything who lives in that world, from the bee to the children of their staff. — Tania Van Pelt

Want to work with us? Get started.

We represent winemakers and mezcal makers who work like artisans, crafting stunning wines and mezcal each year. They do not impose a preconceived taste on their wines, but look to work with nature, creating the best expression of their vineyard’s terroir. Wines that show a true sense of place.

We like to work directly with our importers and build relationships with small owner-operated grower areas across South Africa, Spain, Uruguay, Brazil, Mexico, and California, whose wines and spirits respect the terroir, traditions, and the workers, and the environment. They work with indigenous varieties.

Equally important, these grower-producers take special care to reduce yields, handpick the grapes, and avoid pumps or other rough treatment of their harvest and the vineyard.

Tania Van Pelt
Co-Founder

Tania Van Pelt worked in food & beverage for over 20 years. She waited tables in a high-end New York restaurant at night, auditioned, and wrote & produced shows by day. Her first book was published in 2015. She got the wine bug while working on a film project in South Africa in 2014. Tania traveled South Africa’s Western Cape for 2 years seeking out the most expressive, compelling wines. In December 2020, Tania started Hi-Lo Beverage. The last 3 years the Hi-Lo book has expanded to include stunning Italian and French wines, agave spirits from Mexico by iconic producers, small production wines from the Central Coast of California, and South American wines.
